Polarization Maintaining (PM) Fiber
A PM fiber is a highly birefringent fiber, which maintains the polarization state of light as the large difference in refractive index between axes act to substantially reduce the probability of cross coupling.
For more information, please visit our 'Polarisation Mode Dispersion (PMD)' entry. Additionally, please request our technical note 'Highly Birefringent Polarising Maintaining Fiber for Fiber Optical Gyroscopes (FOGs)'.
