Gain Coefficient

Gain Coefficient (g*(λ)) is equivalent to the emission spectrum per unit length. The gain is offered by a laser ion transition, and is quantified by the product of the emission cross section and doping density, N0. In the context of an erbium doped fiber amplifier, this is a Giles parameter used to model the system.
