High Temperature Coatings

Fiber optics are provided with various coatings, some of which are optimised for heat protection. The most common coatings are the high temperature acrylate which provides protection up to 150°C and polyimide that provides protection up to 300°C.

A metal coating can also be deposited to increase the temperature resistance of the fiber (up to 700°C with gold).
