Fibercore Zing™ Polarizing Fiber enables compact, all-fiber polarizers for applications that require a high polarization extinction ratio, a broad operating window and reliable performance under real-world deployment conditions.

Available for operation at 830, 1064, 1310 and 1550 nm, Zing fiber can be configured to meet the polarization requirements of fiber lasers, navigation systems, optical current sensors and other precision photonic systems.

How Zing™ Polarizing Fiber Works

Zing™ Polarizing Fiber uses Fibercore’s high-birefringence Bow-Tie design to create different guidance conditions for two orthogonal polarization modes. When deployed at the appropriate length and coil diameter, bend-induced loss causes the unwanted mode to leak from the fiber while the required polarization remains strongly guided. This enables Zing fiber to function as a compact, all-fiber polarizer, providing high polarization extinction without introducing a separate bulk-optic component. The fiber length and deployment diameter can also be selected to optimize the polarizing wavelength window for the application.
